A Free Guy emote is available in Fortnite for players to unlock for free. This guide will show players how they can unlock it. After the film Free Guy got delayed for over a year due to the situation surrounding COVID-19, many movie-goers were eager to see Ryan Reynolds' new video game-centered film. In this film, Ryan Reynolds' character soon discovers his entire world is a video game that will soon be shut down. It is up to him to work together with a player to stop that from happening. In conjunction with the release of the movie, players can complete Fortnite challenges to unlock a Free Guy emote.
For starters, players will need to head to the ATMs scattered around the map. This is how players will be able to accept these challenges, similar to speaking with an NPC or completing Legendary and Epic quests for the Battle Pass. With Free Guy officially receiving its theatrical release on August 13, it's likely this in-game event won't last long. This is also something players can participate in without needing the Battle Pass. Here's how players can unlock the Free Guy emote in Fortnite.
There are 5 different quests players will need to complete to unlock the Free Guy emote in Fortnite. These challenges cannot be repeated, and players will need to interact with ATMs to access them. Here's every Free Guy challenge.
- Get hit by a moving vehicle: Players can complete this challenge with friends or do it alone. For solo players, setting up a ramp for the vehicle to roll down and then standing in front of it is the way to go.
- Place coins around the map: Players will need to head to specific locations to plant three coins.
- Revive or reboot teammates, or interact with campfires: This challenge can be done in Duos, Trios, or Squads. The best way to go about it is by playing with friends and having them take damage to revive them.
- Take Melee Damage: Stalk another player to their exact landing location and hope they attack back.
- Talk with any NPC: Head to any of the NPCs on the map and complete a dialogue tree.
After the players complete all five challenges, they will be rewarded with the Free Guy emote. This is one of the few cross-promotional events that actually provides challenges for players to complete. For the most part, the crossovers are typically tied to purchasing a skin in the Item Shop, like the recent Bloodsport or Gamora crossover skins. Hopefully, more events in the future can allow players to go above and beyond, like this one.
Fortnite is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC.
