Guilty Gear Strive Reveals Second DLC Character Jack-O

Developer Arc System Works recently unveiled Jack-O as the second DLC character for Guilty Gear Strive Season Pass 1. The studio rolled out the latest entry in its long-running fighting game series back in June for PC and PlayStation platforms, offering an experience that critics and players alike view as a milestone for both the brand and 2D fighters as a whole.

Season Pass 1 already unlocked access to one post-launch fighter, Goldlewis Dickinson, a hulk of a man who wields a coffin from Area 51 as his primary weapon of choice. U.M.A., a mysterious entity likely of alien origin, inhabits Dickinson's fearsome coffin, granting him access to a wide range of other deadly tools such as Gatling guns and spiked mines. Guilty Gear Strive's first downloadable character has, thus, prove quite the formidable combatant. But someone equally interesting is set to soon join the roster, as well.

Yesterday, August 15, Arc System Works unleashed a first-look trailer at Jack-O, the second Season Pass 1 character for Guilty Gear Strive. Jack-O enters the arena next week on Friday, August 27 for Season Pass holders, according to the trailer. Players who want to purchase the character separately can expect to do so a few days later on Monday, August 30 for $6.99. Get a good look at Jack-O in action in the following trailer:

Based on the previously detailed Season Pass roadmap situated at the end of the above trailer, at least one more DLC combatant will arrive in Guilty Gear Strive this year. A fourth mystery fighter will release in 2022, along with a new Battle Stage. Arc System Works plans to deploy a fifth DLC character sometime thereafter; whoever it is, they, too, should come packed with a Battle Stage, as well as content billed as "Another Story."

Jack-O seems an inspired choice for the second post-launch addition to Guilty Gear Strive. The character, known for her jack-o’-lantern-themed mask and weighted ball and chain, debuted in 2016's Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator. Of course, she entered a universe with an already deep history, as Guilty Gear itself first hit the scene in 1998 on PlayStation. Six other mainline entries have released since then, including Guilty Gear Strive, and a number of console and handheld spinoffs kept fans busy over the years, too.
