The Bachelor: 10 Must-Watch Seasons, Ranked According To IMDb

Finding true love hasn't always been a guarantee for either the bachelor or the bachelorettes on The Bachelor, despite the premise, but fans have always been certain that they'd get plenty of entertainment. At the moment, only 6 couples from previous seasons are still together.

According to IMDb ratings, most seasons of the reality TV series are fairly equally matched when it comes to overall quality. However, a few are a bit more captivating than the rest. While they are not a perfect method of determining the quality of a season, of course, they do still tend to reveal the fan-favorites.

10 Season 5 - 4.9

By appearing in Season 5, NFL quarterback Jesse Palmer not only became the youngest ever bachelor but also the first Non-American bachelor. He'd go on to select Jessica Bowlin as the woman he wanted to be with.

The allure of this season lay in the fact that most of the contestants had a serious case for why they should be chosen. Being spoiled for choice leads to confusion and that's exactly what happened to Palmer. The confusion manifested itself via a string of poor decisions. He accidentally sent one contestant home when he gave her a rose that he intended to give to someone else. He also didn't get to last long with Bowlin after the show.

9 Season 23 - 5.0

Former professional football player Colton Underwood chose Cassie Randolph but she left, declaring that they were not agreeing. Not one to give up, he chased after her and begged for another chance. The two still didn't end up together and in 2021, Underwood came out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community.

The abundance of dramatic moments in the 23rd installment made it a classic in the reality TV arena. In one of the most memorable scenes, a distraught Underwood hopped a fence and disappeared for hours, forcing the producers to set off a search party. The endless fights spiced things up too as Underwood's "virgin" declaration appeared to have sparked some drama with the bachelorettes.

8 Season 3 - 5.1

Andrew Firestone, the heir of the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, downplayed his wealth as he tried to find love. He chose Jen Schefft but after the show, he broke up with her and married actress Ivana Bozilovic.

Of all the seasons, this one had the most exotic settings. Viewers were constantly reminded that the bachelor had deep pockets hence no date or adventure looked cheap. Even more impressive was the focus of the contestants. None of whom appeared too carried away by Firestone's status. It's unfortunate that no long-term romance was born out of his opulent journey.

7 Season 22 - 5.1

There was the "I'm sorry I've changed my mind" moment here too. Arie Luyendyk Jr. proposed to publicist Becca Kufrin only to end the engagement and settle for Lauren Burnham, one of The Bachelor runner-ups that should definitely have won.

Season 22 also had plenty of serious contestants hence Luyendyk Jr. could be forgiven for being a little confused. There were all the ingredients that made the franchise a success, including petty accusations, verbal exchanges, genuine heart-to-heart moments, and manipulative strategies to get to the front seat.

6 Season 17 - 5.3

Former Kansas State football player Sean Lowe chose Catherine Giudici as his wife in this slow burn of a season. The two went on to get married. At the moment, they have two sons.

Season 17 had very little drama and that was because there was genuine love from the very start. From the first episode, it was obvious that Lowe had set his eyes on Giudici and he didn't look back. Every other contestant appeared invincible to him. It was hardly a surprise when she was his pick at the end.

5 Season 11 - 5.5

There was no love in the air in this unique season. In it, Texas winemaker Brad Womack made odd history as the first bachelor in the history of the show to say no to all of the contestants.

That there was no one suitable for Womack from a group of 25 women was indeed surprising. His decision rubbed fans the wrong way, some arguing that he had only come on the show to have fun. Having carried himself as a gentleman all along, Womack didn't appear malicious, hence there's the possibility that he did plenty of analysis and concluded that there was no one there that really worked for him.

4 Season 1 - 5.5

Alex Michel, the first among the earlier stars of The Bachelor, picked Amanda Marsh as the person who he wanted to live with, happily ever after. He decided not to propose to her, suggesting that they continue dating instead. Unfortunately, they parted ways.

The first installment had enough drama and emotional triggers to hook viewers and keep them coming back in the years that followed. It was also good enough to make the producers realize that a spinoff would be a good idea. Runner-up Trista Rehn would go on the be the first-ever bachelorette in The Bachelorette.

3 Season 20 - 5.6

Software salesman Ben Higgins had failed to find love in The Bachelorette and he still failed to do so in Season 20 of The Bachelor. After picking flight attendant Lauren Bushnell, the two separated two years later.

The season was a unique one since Higgins broke the rules but declaring that he loved both Bushnell and Jojo, one of the funniest women from The Bachelor. He was unable to choose but the rules didn't account for polygamy so he had to settle for one. He ended his dilemma by choosing Bushnell, something he probably regrets. Nevertheless, there were plenty of entertaining moments as the two women vied for his love.

2 Season 24 - 5.7

Delta airlines pilot Peter Webber was left heartbroken after bachelorette Hannah Brown dumped him but he was given the chance to pick someone else from a group of 25. Hannah Ann Sluss was picked as the winner but that didn't last.

Season 25 was catchy not because it was an enjoyable lovefest but because it was a total trainwreck. So far, Weber is arguably the most confused bachelor ever. After picking Sluss, Weber changed his mind during the After Final Rose special and opted for runner-up Madison Prewett instead. Not surprisingly, that didn't last. Weber's unimpressed mum had cursed them out on air. He ended up seeing fifth-placed Kelley Flanagan but the two still broke up.

1 Season 13 - 5.9

Single father Jason Mesnick the runner-up of Season 4 of The Bachelorette was the prize this time. He confidently picked Melissa Rycroft as the winner only for him to realize he was still in love with runner-up Molly Malaney. Not one to live with a mistake forever, he dumped Rycroft right after the after-season special and married Malaney. The couple is still together.

With such twists and turns, it's no shocker that the season ranks higher than the rest. It was obvious that Mesnick had made a mistake when he cried uncontrollably right after sending Malaney out the door. But his U-turn was also great as it reassured viewers that contestants aren't bound by the rules. They are free to right their wrongs. It also brought forward an important discussion: just how many people out there settled for the wrong partner?
