GTA Online Player Spots Possible Planet Over Los Santos

While roaming the streets of Los Santos in Grand Theft Auto Online, one user happened upon what looks like a blue planet hovering over the city. Space-related mysteries are nothing new in Rockstar Games' ever-popular online suite. In fact, one GTA Online player recently encountered a UFO, though a weird stroke of lighting inhibited their ability to investigate further.

Such a find came amid GTA Online's limited-time UFO event, which featured sightings of unidentified spacecrafts, along with scrambled radio signals and other terrors. The event in question launched in tandem with a weekly update late last week, leading many players to believe that even more content of the third kind could be on the horizon. Given the imminence of Halloween, Rockstar taking the alien theme a step further certainly doesn't seem farfetched. And now yet another strange sighting in Los Santos has raised questions about GTA Online's potential Halloween festivities.

The GTA Online subreddit is currently abuzz with rumblings about a popular video making the rounds. Reddit user No-Bee-3608 posted a 28-second clip that shows their character peering into the bright blue sky through a sniper rifle's scope. Instead of looking for birds or rogue aircrafts, the player's line of sight settles on what appears to be a blue planet. It's almost imperceptible against the color of the sky; thus, the mystery planet could actually constitute little more than a skybox glitch of some sort. See the seemingly new celestial body orbiting Los Santos in the video linked below:

Might this serve as a near missable tease about Rockstar's plans for future GTA Online content? It's possible. Once again, though, the above video featuring a circular glitch in the multiplayer experience's skybox seems equally plausible. After all, GTA Online glitches aren't exactly an uncommon occurrence.

Roughly eight years have passes since its initial launch on PS3 and Xbox 360, yet Grand Theft Auto's online suite continues to swarm with active users day in and day out. This is thanks in large part to the development studio's unending support, which ranges from incremental weekly updates to massive content drops. The most recent update of note went live this summer in the form of Los Santos Tuners, adding in a Car Meet, new Contracts, races, and several additional vehicles.
