Hawkeye Merch Offers New Look at Clint's Comic-Accurate Costume

New promotional art for Hawkeye merchandise shows off the more comic-accurate costumes the Disney+ MCU series will be using. The show, which will premiere on November 24, is the latest live-action series on the streaming platform to spin off from the films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following WandaVisionThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki. It will follow Jeremy Renner's archery expert Hawkeye, who hasn't had a solo outing since first appearing in 2011's Thor followed by 3 Avengers films and Captain America: Civil War.

Hawkeye will see Hawkeye training fan and protegé Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld). The cast also includes Tony Dalton as Clint's mentor Swordmaster, Vera Farmiga as Kate's mother Eleanor, Fra Fee as mercenary Kazi AKA Clown, Florence Pugh reprising her Black Widow role Yelena Belova, and Alaqua Cox as Echo, a deaf, Native American hero with the power of mimicry. Marvel is already developing another spin-off series featuring Echo.

On their Twitter, fan account BR Marvel News shared new promo art that was developed for the Disney+ series. According to the tweet, the design is intended to be used on multiple types of merchandise, including "shirt prints, toy boxes, notebook covers, and others." They show Kate Bishop with Hawkeye, who is wearing a costume accurate to the comics from which this show was adapted, namely David Aja's design for Matt Fraction's Hawkeye series. Disney recently confirmed more details about the plot of Hawkeye, which will be set around Christmas time. Clint Barton is no longer part of the Avengers following his vigilante rampage as Ronin, and a figure from his past will reemerge to threaten his holiday cheer. Black Widow's post-credits sequence also showed that he is a target for Julia Louis-Dreyfus' Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, though it has not yet been confirmed if she herself will be appearing. The series will also feature the villainous New York mafia group from the comics known as the Tracksuit Draculas.

Although the merchandise shared on Twitter has yet to be confirmed by Disney, this account has a history of retrieving accurate MCU imagery. These new images highlight just how much the Hawkeye series will be positioning Bishop as a co-lead. It is more or less an open secret that the series will feature Hawkeye passing the torch, which means that Clint Barton might potentially even die before the final credits roll. Given Clint's complicated history with the Avengers, it will be interesting to see what direction the series ends up taking the character.
