New Animal Crossing Direct Image Is a First Look at Brewster

The first look at Animal Crossing: New Horizon's highly-anticipated NPC Brewster has been revealed by Nintendo. The character is set to be introduced as part of the next big Animal Crossing update, but fans weren't expecting to see what the coffee-loving pigeon looks like until the upcoming Animal Crossing Nintendo Direct.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the latest game in the longstanding series, but many of the franchise's most beloved NPCs have been missing from the game since its launch in 2020. Fan-favorite characters like Tortimer, Dr. Shrunk, and of course, Brewster, are all yet to make their New Horizons debut, leaving many to wonder if they'd ever come to the game. While Nintendo has kept quiet on news of most of the lost NPCs, the company has confirmed the arrival of Brewster in Animal Crossing, with the character and the famous Roost Cafe set to be officially unveiled later this week.

Ahead of the Animal Crossing Direct, the official Nintendo video channels have been preparing for the event with placeholders. While most of the official channels are using blurred images of The Roost, Nintendo UK has used an image including not just the previously-unseen Roost bar area, but also Brewster himself. This is the first time players have seen Brewster with his Nintendo Switch makeover, and while the image is slightly blurred, it gives a taste of what fans can expect from Brewster's upcoming Direct. The different image was spotted by YouTuber Crossing Channel, and marks the first time the character has been seen in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

As seen in the new image, Animal Crossing's Brewster doesn't appear to look too different to previous iterations of the character. Crossing Channel points out that the NPC perhaps looks smaller than expected, though this could be because Brewster is shown slightly hunched, seemingly cleaning a glass. As for The Roost itself, the interior sports dark woods and greens, similar to an old-fashioned English pub. It appears that Brewster keeps his coffee on tap, with three taps perhaps implying there will be three types of beverages sold by the pigeon. It's possible the use of the image was accidental, with both Nintendo of America and Nintendo Japan's channels showing an entirely different, Brewster-free placeholder image.

Fans don't have too long to wait to see the official reveal of Brewster and The Roost, along with any new gameplay elements, items, and features coming in the November update. Nintendo has confirmed the Animal Crossing Direct will take place on October 15 at 7 am PT, and will include around 20 minutes of news on the game and its future. Along with new additions, there are lots of quality-of-life improvements that Animal Crossing fans are hoping will be announced when the stream airs this Friday.
