Sasha Banks Confirms Koska Reeves Isn't In The Mandalorian Season 3

Koska Reeves isn’t in The Mandalorian season 3 confirms star Sasha Banks. Season 2 of the Disney+ Star Wars show introduced Reeves, a member of Bo-Katan Kryze’s Mandalorian unit the Nite Owls.

Banks’ Reeves indeed was first teased ahead of season 2’s debut and her hooded appearance initially made fans think she was a Jedi. But her debut episode “The Heiress” revealed she was instead an elite Mandalorian allied with Bo-Katan alongside fellow Nite Owl Axe Woves. In that episode, Reeves and her fellow Nite Owls were joined by Din Djarin in hijacking an imperial freighter in order to commandeer its weapons for Bo-Katan’s effort to retake Mandalore. Reeves later returned with Bo-Katan in the Mandalorian season 2 finale “The Rescue,” in which the Nite Owls (and of course Boba Fett) aided Din Djarin in rescuing Grogu from Moff Gideon – only to watch Grogu go away with Luke Skywalker in one of the most shocking cameos ever.

All that season 2 action may have seemed to set up Koska Reeves as an important Mandalorian character going forward but now it appears she is not in fact in the show’s future plans. As Banks (billed on the show under the name Mercedes Varnado) told Bleacher Report, her time on The Mandalorian is in fact over:

First of all, thanks for trying to get that out, but I'm not on the next season. But it was incredible being on The Mandalorian on Star Wars. To be on a franchise that is so huge and so loved, just look at the reception from fans outside of the WWE Universe. It was the best feeling of all time. The projection of that show was overwhelming. I legit felt like I was in a galaxy so far, far away. I felt like I was on a different planet.

Banks of course became famous as a WWE wrestler before embarking on an acting career that led her to The Mandalorian. Now it seems that acting career will lead her away from the Disney+ show that afforded her the chance to join the Star Wars universe. This is certainly bad news for fans who had come to enjoy Banks’ character and were looking forward to seeing how she and her fellow Nite Owls might continue their efforts to win back Mandalore. Of course, Koska Reeves isn’t the only important character leaving the show, as Cara Dune will also not be back after Gina Carano was fired by Disney (and the character was not recast with Lucy Lawless as many fans hoped). Baby Yoda also seems like he won’t be back for season 3, though Disney will certainly lose out on a lot of marketing opportunities if they actually go through with writing Grogu out of the action.

Of course there is always the possibility that Banks herself is fibbing by claiming she is not coming back for The Mandalorian season 3. Fans may recall that Bill Burr originally flat-out lied about not being in season 2 before his character Mayfeld made his triumphant return to the show. Obviously actors are always being compelled to keep things under wraps when they give interviews and sometimes lying is the best way to maintain the secrecy studios desire. If Banks is telling the truth, it might seem a curious move to not bring back Reeves, given the prominent role her ally Bo-Katan is expected to play in season 3. Indeed, Bo-Katan and Din Djarin appear on the cusp of a showdown over the darksaber, and there’s still the lingering matter of Mandalore. Perhaps Reeves is involved in the show’s plans but will not actually be back until The Mandalorian season 4. Right now, almost anything seems possible as the show charts a new path post-Grogu.
