Mass Effect Legendary Edition Mod Restores Lost DLC | Screen Rant

A new Mass Effect: Legendary Edition mod restores the lost Pinnacle Station DLC to the original Mass Effect. Released earlier this year, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition remastered the first three games in BioWare’s sprawling sci-fi RPG series, allowing players to re-experience the saga of Commander Shepard and the crew of the Normandy with modern graphics and a few gameplay tweaks to areas like the Mako rover’s infamously rocky controls in the first Mass Effect game.

While the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition collection was praised for including virtually every piece of DLC from the first three Mass Effect titles in one convenient package, not everything made the transition. The Pinnacle Station DLC from the first Mass Effect was left out of the Legendary Edition, with BioWare saying that the data was corrupted and that it would have taken up too much time to rebuild it from the ground up. Pinnacle Station was one of two additional DLC packs for 2007’s Mass Effect, and while it held no story content, fans missed the plethora of additional challenges it brought, such as virtual reality Capture the Flag and Deathmatch scenarios that would serve as a preview for Mass Effect 3’s eventual online multiplayer mode. Luckily, modders have been able to bring the Pinnacle Station expansion back to Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, at least on PC.

According to Game Rant, a group of modders under the handle of ME3TWEAKS posted the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition Pinnacle Station DLC mod to NexusMods. This mod fully restores the lost Mass Effect Pinnacle Station DLC, and even improves on several key areas to bring it up to speed with the rest of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition. Aside from the expected graphical overhaul, the Pinnacle Station DLC mod features an updated music track that builds in intensity as players progress through the level and several fixes to issues like collision detection, texture pop-up, and buggy enemy spawn locations that plagued the original DLC back when it was released in 2009.

This new Mass Effect: Legendary Edition fan mod comes on the heels of this year’s N7 Day celebration, which saw players reflect on the Mass Effect series as BioWare offered up a plethora of discounts, merchandise, cosplay tips, and even more statistics about what choices fans made during Commander Shepard’s journey. Shepard VAs Mark Meer and Jenifer Hale sat down to talk about their favorite lines as the fully customizable hero of the Milky Way, and BioWare posted an intriguing teaser poster for the upcoming Mass Effect 4.

In the meantime, PC owners who missed being able to explore Pinnacle Station in the original Mass Effect can now do so in the Legendary Edition thanks to ME3TWEAKS’ new fan mod. It’s unfortunate that BioWare couldn’t bring the popular Pinnacle Station to the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, but at least there are talented modders out there who were able to restore this lost Mass Effect content for the players who missed it.
