Selling Sunset: Mary Explains Why She's No Longer Friends With Christine

Selling Sunset co-stars Mary Fitzgerald and Christine Quinn's friendship seems to have reached its breaking point. The two real estate agents for The Oppenheim Group were close friends during the show's premiere season back in 2019, but things have since soured. Christine's antics in the past have notably rubbed cast members the wrong way, and she and Mary have been at the center of various feuds throughout the show.

Mary and Christine were two of the most popular agents on the show during its earlier seasons and were also self-proclaimed best friends. The two were even roommates at one point, however, the strong bond that was displayed early on in the show deteriorated as time went on. One flare-up occurred during an altercation between Christine and then-newcomer Chrishell Strause at an after-work social event. Rather than stand by Christine, Mary opted to defend Chrishell, causing a rift between Christine and herself. Christine had also criticized Mary's relationship with her boss and ex-boyfriend Jason Oppenheim. The rift between Quinn and Fitzgerald was visible in season 2, as well, when Christine effectively replaced Mary as her best friend by spending most of her time with co-star Davina Potratz.

Mary detailed her current relationship with Christine in an interview with The Daily Starand she didn't hold back. "Christine and I are not in a good place. Things have happened that mean we aren’t on good terms," said Fitzgerald. Mary didn't elaborate on the details of what occurred between her and Christine, however, she did reveal that her relationship with her co-star was having a negative impact on her mental health. "I had a lot of anxiety about filming this series. I was very nervous about it. And having everyone around the world putting out their thoughts on you is stressful as well... My husband helped me deal with it in a healthy way, so I now have a therapist that comes over." Despite her friendship with Christine being a thing of the past, Mary figures to feature prominently in season 4 of Selling Sunset, which releases on Nov. 24 on Netflix.

The deterioration of Christine and Mary's friendship has been occurring throughout the entirety of the show, ever since the aforementioned incident with Chrishell in season 1. Things escalated further after Christine called out Mary and some of her other castmates via a TikTok video, for not commenting on her Instagram post in which she announced her pregnancy. In response, Mary said that Christine's comments were a "flat-out lie" and claimed to have proof that she reached out personally to congratulate her co-star on the big news. “I found out through the media that she was pregnant…So I called and left her a voice text just saying how happy I am for her, congratulations, let me know if there’s anything I can do,” Mary told Page Six via a Zoom interview in March.

Up until now, however, Mary had remained relatively private on how her relationship with Christine had impacted her. Mary isn't the only one to cut ties with Quinn, who seems to have ostracized herself from the rest of the cast due to her various antics. With season 4 of Selling Sunset just around the corner, the workplace dynamic and relationship between Christine and the rest of her castmates, particularly Mary, will certainly be a topic of conversation. With new castmates coming in for the fourth season, perhaps Christine will look to form new relationships, or else she risks becoming the office outcast.
