The first trailer for Captain Marvel has been given a Marvel-ously animated reimagining through the use of Carol Danvers' appearances in various Marvel Comics' cartoons. The trailer for the highly anticipated film was released to wide acclaim earlier this week, prompting this animated tribute to Earth's Mightiest Hero.
In the original comics, Carol Danvers was a highly decorated USAF Colonel, fighter pilot, and intelligence officer, who became the Security Chief at NASA by the time she was 30. It was in this capacity that she befriended Mar-Vell - an alien solider who had been sent to Earth as a spy for his race, The Kree, but came to defend Earth as the superhero Captain Marvel. Carol later became a half-Kree hybrid, gaining amazing physical enhancements and energy-manipulation abilities after Mar-Vell's DNA was imprinted upon her through a freak accident. Carol became a superhero as well, utilizing a number of codenames over the years before adopting the name of Captain Marvel in honor of her fallen friend.

YouTuber Darth Blender created the animated tribute, using footage of Captain Marvel's appearances in various animated series based on Marvel Comics. Chief among these are scenes from 2010's Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, 2012's Ultimate Spider-Man, and 2013's Avengers Assemble. The animation is perfectly synced with the dialogue from the original Captain Marvel movie trailer, though the footage depicts Nick Fury with his trademark eye-patch. That is, however, a minor nit-pick in an otherwise entirely accurate depiction of what an animated Captain Marvel movie might look like.
This excellent display of editing skill is par for the course for Darth Blender, being the latest of several such animated trailers made by the talented YouTube artist this year. Earlier this month, Darth Blender created a similar trailer for Venom, utilizing footage from the 1990's Spider-Man animated series. Another animated trailer based on the first trailer for Aquaman made use of footage from The Superman/Aquaman Hour Of Adventure cartoon from 1967 and the Superfriends' cartoons of the 1970s to create a truly retro treat.
Thankfully, those fans of Carol Danvers hoping to see more earnest animated action involving Captain Marvel will not have long to wait. Though she will not be the star of the show, Carol will be appearing in the upcoming Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors animated series as a mentor to the teenage heroes the show centers upon. She will be voiced by Kim Raver, best known for playing Dr. Teddy Altman on Grey's Anatomy.
