Marvel's Runaways Season 2 Officially Wraps Filming

Filming for season 2 of Marvel's Runaways has officially wrapped, according to one of the show's stars. The second season of the Hulu Original Series began filming back in June, and the young cast members have frequently used social media to communicate with fans and give them a glimpse at what it's like behind-the-scenes.

The first season of the show premiered on Nov. 21, 2017, with the first three episodes. Following a group of teenagers who discover that their parents are mixed up in a dangerous operation known as Pride, the major arc of the season shows the former childhood friends growing closer as they learn about mysterious deaths and disappearances, discover newfound abilities, and uncover dark family secrets, all while facing the ordinary challenges of all adolescents. The series hasn't been a major hit, but it has received demonstrable acclaim, and the second season was greenlit before the end of the first.

Cast member Virginia "Ginny" Gardner, who plays Karolina Dean on the series, used her Instagram Story to spread the news that they had finished filming for the new season. She shared photos of herself with co-stars Allegra Acosta (Molly Hernandez), Rhenzy Feliz (Alex Wilder), Gregg Sulkin (Chase Stein), and Ariela Barer (Gert Yorkes). Of the core group, only Lyrica Okano, who plays Nico Minoru, was missing. Over the first photo, she wrote, "Runaways wrap party love these angels."

From what we know, season 2 will pick up right where the first left off. When we left our young heroes, they had finally lived up to their name, and run away from home. They had finally revealed their powers to their parents, and confessed to knowing everything that was going on with Pride. The final scenes show the wealthy teenagers from Brentwood at the bus station, preparing to get out of L.A., before a news report informs them that they've been framed for a murder committed by their parents. They leave the station and flee down the streets of Hollywood, Gert's trusty dinosaur, Old Lace, behind them.

So what's next? Well, one hint is given in the final shot: A tattered newspaper displays a headline reading "Earthquake Watch: Is LA Next?" which could be connected to the drilling site that was a major focus in season 1. Barer has also expressed an interest in borrowing a plot from the comics in which her character dies and is then brought back to life by her love interest, Chase. We probably won't know if the show is pursuing this storyline until the time comes, but hopefully we'll learn a little bit more about the upcoming season at New York Comic Con in October.
