Peter Parker is swinging into action once again as a clever mod mixes Sony's Spider-Man and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Bringing a taste of New York City justice to the crime-riddled street of Los Santos, San Fierro, and Las Venturas, Spider-Man is here to save the day.
Developers at Insomniac clearly put a lot of work into Spider-Man, meaning this year's game is all anyone is talking about right now. Heading back to 2004, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas had a similar buzz about it and remains the best-selling PlayStation 2 game of all time. Jump to 2018, and Spider-Man is already the fastest-selling PlayStation game ever.

Modder DNZY has dropped Insomniac's Spider-Man into the world of Rockstar Games on his YouTube channel. Featuring the new Spider-Man suit and white emblem, DNZY allows gamers to zip across the San Andreas skyline and perform trick shots. In addition to launching the elderly into the air and using those iconic web-shooters, the mod even includes Peter Parker's signature quips.
With some fans disappointed that Venom never made it (officially) into Spider-Man, DNZY has also modded the psychotic symbiote into Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The end of Insomniac's game possibly teased Venom as the big bad of the inevitable sequel, and the mod shows what the hulking monster could look like alongside Spider-Man. Finally, there is even a fan-favorite appearance from Carnage.
Thanks to the slightly crude animation and clunky gameplay, "downgraded" Spider-Man graphics and arguments over puddles suddenly don't seem that bad anymore. Peter's one-liners and the gameplay mechanics aren't quite as polished as Spider-Man, but what would people expect after modding a PS2 game?
Players will know that adding famous faces to Grand Theft Auto is nothing new. Grand Theft Auto V has proven to be a gamer's dream as everyone from God of War's Kratos to a X-Men's Magneto have found their way into the title. Now that the 2018 Spider-Man has been added to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, it probably won't be much longer until someone puts him in Grand Theft Auto V.
Rockstar's next open-world release is Red Dead Redemption 2, so let's wait and see if modders add Insomniac's Spider-Man on horseback alongside the Van der Linde Gang and swap New York for a trip to the Wild West. In the meantime, Spider-fans can play with the wall-crawling hero in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas while waiting for Spider-Man 2 and Grand Theft Auto VI.
