What if audiences didn't have to wait until next year, and Captain Marvel had shown up in Avengers: Infinity War? While her mid-credit tease was one of Infinity War's highlights, a brand new video showcases an alternate cinematic universe in which Carol Danvers herself shows up to turn the tides on Thanos' fatal finger snap.
In Captain Marvel, former US Air Force fighter pilot Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) is forced to piece together her disjointed memory after crashing to Earth. She's simultaneously caught in the midst of an intergalactic battle known as the Kree-Skrull war, crossing paths with classic MCU characters like Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) before ultimately donning a new heroic identity as the titular Captain Marvel. The movie will be released a few months prior to Avengers 4 and Spider-Man: Far From Home, but a fan's video edit of Avengers: Infinity War splices video footage of Captain Marvel from the recent trailer into one of the final scenes of the movie.

In the video from parody editor Aldo Jones, Captain Marvel plays a much more vital role in Avengers: Infinity War. The video showcases scenes from the original cut of the movie - including the Battle of Wakanda, Nick Fury and Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) reacting to Infinity War's finale battle, and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) stabbing Thanos in the chest with Stormbreaker - but manipulates the footage, while also incorporating Captain Marvel into some of the scenes. Jones features the Fury/Hill footage prior to Thanos' finger snap (even presenting it as though Fury is holding his pager when the Captain Marvel logo flashes on its screen). And, just before Thanos snaps his finger, Captain Marvel appears on screen and punches him in the face (using the footage of her punching the old woman from the Captain Marvel trailer).
The video then ends with Captain Marvel standing beside Thanos as he dies (using footage of his faked death on Knowwhere) before cutting to a shot of Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) and Drax (Dave Bautista), in which Quill says, "That was quick." The line of dialogue that happens before this is when Thanos tells Thor, "You should've gone for the head," which is exactly what Captain Marvel ends up doing.
While the video plays into the question as to why Captain Marvel wasn't around to help the Avengers up until this point, given that her origin story takes place in the '90s, it also plays into what is easily the character's most notable quality: being the most powerful character in the entire MCU. So, in case there was any question as to whether this was or wasn't true - namely for fans who might disagree - this video puts that debate to rest.
