When will the trailer for Godzilla vs. Kong be released? The next installment in the MonsterVerse franchise will see two of its most recognizable heavies - Godzilla and Kong - come face-to-face for the first time in the modern era of this movie franchise. Millie Bobby Brown, Alexander Skarsgård, Kyle Chandler, Eiza Gonzalez, and Rebecca Hall are set as part of the human group caught in the crosshairs of the two towering monsters battling it out. Godzilla vs. Kong is going to be an unmissable movie event, so when can audiences finally get their first proper peek at it?
If Godzilla: King of the Monsters' post-credits sequence made one thing clear, it's that Godzilla and Kong are destined to battle, no matter how good they may possibly be. But, with King of the Monsters and Kong's recent solo outing, Kong: Skull Island, proving these creatures aren't all bad, it's necessary to see how we get from towering and ferocious creatures with a slight moral center to going into all-out battle against one another. This is where a Godzilla vs. Kong trailer would come in handy, to better tease what to expect from this upcoming clash.
Luckily, because it's slated for release on November 20, 2020, the trailer for Godzilla vs. Kong should be coming along relatively soon. It would probably be a little too late to debut the trailer at San Diego Comic-Con 2020, but sometime in spring seems plausible, especially considering blockbuster releases usually get more than one trailer. Based on this, the best guess for when the Godzilla vs. Kong trailer will be released is in Spring 2020, along with a film of similar high-profile status. Two big spring releases which are timed to release about five to six months before Godzilla vs. Kong are F9, out May 22, and Wonder Woman 1984, which debuts June 5. It's likely one of these films could serve as the vehicle for the trailer premiere, with the trailer soon finding its way to other platforms (television, social media, and so forth) to help build interest.
The respective stories of Godzilla and Kong, as seen within the MonsterVerse, have been building toward this epic fight. At the end of Kong: Skull Island, Conrad (Tom Hiddleston) and Weaver (Brie Larson) escaped with some members of their team, having witnessed Kong's ability to choose to fight with and for the humans, hinting at an instinct to do good despite his size. The reveal of Godzilla in the Skull Island post-credits scene helped to set up his sequel: Godzilla: King of the Monsters saw Godzilla was as ferocious as Kong and a natural leader of the Titans (Mothra, Ghidorah, etc.). Some of the Titans were last seen making their way to Skull Island as a second Mothra egg was discovered - two events that will undoubtedly be addressed in the Godzilla vs. Kong trailer and film.
The next installment in Legendary's MonsterVerse certainly won't set itself up nor will it just magically appear in theaters without at least one epic trailer being released into the world. Even though the Godzilla vs. Kong trailer likely won't show up for a while longer, keep an eye out for it in the next few months.
