The Bachelor: The 10 Shortest-Lived Relationships, Ranked

The reality TV show The Bachelor is known for its breakups. Every season, fans tune in to watch the newest eligible man or woman find their soulmate, knowing that the odds are not in their favor. Given the success rate of couples who meet in the Bachelor franchise, it's shocking that this show is successful as it is.

This fall will premiere the sixteenth season of The Bachelorette, and fans will get the twenty-fifth season of The Bachelor in 2021. Throughout the eighteen years this show has been on the air, there have been a few happily ever afters, but most couples are lucky to make it just a few months together once the cameras stop rolling.

10 Aaron Buerge And Helene Esksterowicz

Aaron and Helene met and fell in love during the second season of the hit reality series and got engaged during the season finale with a ring Aaron insisted on paying for himself, straying for the normal engagement on the show where the series picks up the tab for a Neil Lane cut.

Five weeks after the engagement aired, Aaron took Helene to a Starbucks and told her he was "no longer emotionally invested" in their relationship, completely blindsiding his fiancée.

9 Bob Guiney And Estella Gardinier

Bob Guiney is one of the most loved Bachelors of all time. He's also presumed to be the Bachelor who slept with the most women during his time on the show. Bob and Estella walked away a couple, but not engaged. Instead, Bob gave Estella a promise ring at the end of season four.

Three months later, Bob was trying to use the small amount of fame he gained from the show to kickstart his music career, and Estella wanted nothing to do with it, so the couple split.

8 Jason Mesnick And Melissa Rycroft

Jason and Melissa got engaged at the end of season thirteen but didn't make it past the "After the Final Rose" special. On national television, Jason broke things off with Melissa stating that he believes he had made a mistake and wanted to try again with runner-up Molly Malaney.

Jason may not have picked the best way to initiate the break-up, but following his heart paid off because he and Molly are still happily married today with two children.

7 Jake Pavelka And Vienna Girardi

Every season of The Bachelor has a villain, and season fourteen was no different, except that in this season, the villain won. Jake proposed to Vienna over fan favorite Tenley, so viewers were not surprised when this fairytale relationship turned into a nightmare for the couple as soon as they stopped filming.

Vienna went to the tabloids, cashing in on her breakup and making her and Jake's personal issues very public.

6 Brad Womack And Emily Maynard

Brad and Emily found each other during the fifteenth season of The Bachelor, shocking fans who assumed that Emily was really only on the show to become the next Bachelorette. The couple admitted that their relationship post-taping was not an easy one.

Emily and Brad broke up numerous times after Brad proposed during the season finale and called it quits for good three months after the engagement aired.

5 Nick Viall And Vanessa Grimaldi

Nick and Vanessa got engaged at the end of season twenty-one, but as Vanessa revealed after the couple split, she didn't want to get engaged.

While filming the season, Vanessa and Nick had an un-aired conversation where she allegedly expressed her desire to continue dating after the show and to not get engaged right away. This, plus a few other disagreements, is what led to the couple's split just five months after the season aired.

4 Arie Luyendyk Jr. And Becca Kufrin

Arie proposed to Becca at the end of the twenty-second season of the series, only to regret his decision a few short weeks later. Arie blindsided Becca with a break-up on national television in one of the saddest endings the franchise had ever aired.

Arie expressed his desire to go after runner-up Lauren, which he did, and the two were married the next year. Becca went on to become the Bachelorette and met her soulmate, Garrett, to whom she is now engaged.

3 Hannah Brown And Jed Wyatt

There have been a lot of short-lived engagements on The Bachelor, but not as many on The Bachelorette. In fact, the success of The Bachelorette is significantly higher, so it shocked Bachelor nation to see Hannah Brown and Jed Wyatt's engagement end only a few short weeks after the season wrapped filming.

Once the cameras were off, Hannah saw who Jed really was and quickly called off the engagement. During the After the Final Rose special, Hannah asked runner-up Tyler out on a date, and he accepted. Recently, it's been rumored that Hannah and Tyler are still dating.

2 Peter Weber And Hannah Ann Sluss

After Peter's dream girl, Madison, took herself out of the running, Peter popped the question to Hannah Ann. Hannah Ann could sense she was Peter's second choice, and it only took her a few weeks to give the ring back.

Hannah Ann has been very vocal about her split with Peter and her opinions on her former fiancée. Hannah Ann also had one of the best moments on After the Final Rose, where she got to tell Peter how she really felt about him on live television.

1 Peter Weber And Madison Prewett

Peter and Madison appeared on After the Final Rose together, letting fans know they were giving their relationship another shot, despite what Peter's mother had to say about it.

Three days after the live show aired, Peter and Madison took to social media to share publicly that they had once again broken up. Peter is now rumored to be dating another contestant from his season, Kelly, who was spotted with Peter in Chicago back in March.
