Lord Of The Rings: 10 Legolas Memes That Are Too Funny

Legolas, played by Orlando Bloom, is an Elvish archer and all-around cool guy, as well as one of the nine members of the Fellowship of the Ring, in Peter Jackson's blockbuster film series The Lord of the Rings. He's become one of the franchise's most lasting characters, still giving fans serious nostalgia even to this day; because of this, he's also one of the franchise's most popular characters.

Members of his fan base across the globe have made some amazing memes featuring his character, with many posting them on the Internet for all to see; here are 10 of the funniest.

10 Twitching

Legolas and Gimli have a friendly rivalry, and thus they try to one-up each other in terms of killing the most Orcs at any given opportunity. When each display their final count, Gimli has one more than Legolas, at 43 to the Elf's 42.

In turn, Legolas shoots a nearby fallen Orc, saying it was "twitching" and thus still alive. Gimli retorts that the Orc was twitching because "he's got my axe embedded in his nervous system!"

9 Friend-zoned

This meme is a spoof on Legolas and Gimli's classic scene from The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, in which Gimli tells Legolas that he never thought that he'd die "fighting side by side with an elf," to which Legolas responds "What about side by side with a friend?"

In this version, however, the person posting the meme is getting awkwardly friend-zoned by their crush.

8 You Should Have Gone For The Head

Legolas definitely had a lot of great moments at the Battle of Helm's Deep, but when an Orc charged at the fortress with a bomb, the Elf didn't have enough time to kill him before the wall was blown up.

Perhaps he made the same mistake Thor did in Avengers: Infinity War; not going for the head.

7 It's Quite Cool

One of Legolas' more triumphant bits during the Battle of Helm's Deep was the absolutely epic scene in which he surfed down one of the fortress' staircases on a shield, shooting Orcs all the way.

Gandalf's comment to Frodo in regards to the low temperature of the Ring - "It's quite cool" - goes perfectly with this Legolas moment.

6 Greatest Chokes Of All Time

Legolas lost to Gimli in their Orc-massacring contest by just one point, 42 to 43 respectively.

Earlier in their contest, however, the Elf was shown to have a substantial (and quickly growing) lead, as Gimli shouts "Two already!" only for Legolas to shout back "I'm on 17!" before quickly adding two more to his kill count.

5 Perfectly Balanced

Maybe it's just because they were the main characters in the franchise, but Legolas, Gimli, and Aragorn survived tons of things they absolutely should not have.

The Battle of Helm's Deep, in which they were fighting against thousands of Uruks, is just one of the many examples of this occurring throughout the Lord of the Rings franchise.

4 Hundreds Of Orcs With Just 10 Arrows

Legolas only seems to have a few arrows on-hand at any given time, and yet he never runs out despite shooting hundreds of Orcs. Where are all these extra arrows coming from?

One theory is that he finds arrows that have already been shot and reuses them, something that occurs in the books, but not the movies.

3 Really, Legolas?

Aragorn probably should have directed more shooters than just Legolas at the bomb-wielding Orc quickly advancing towards the fortress of Helm's Deep.

Legolas is certainly capable, but you need to have a back-up plan - and when Legolas' three arrows somehow weren't enough to keep the Uruk from reaching his destination, Aragorn no doubt had a brief facepalm moment before continuing to fight.

2 "Would You Like Me To Find You A Box?"

One of the biggest roasts in Lord of the Rings history is when Gimli can't see far enough over the wall at Helm's Deep to be able to tell what's going on, so Legolas tells him "Shall I describe it to you? Or would you like me to get you a box?".

The two go at each other's necks often during the films, but this moment stands out as both one of the most memorable and one of the most savage - so much so that even the most stone-faced of viewers are obligated to utter an "Oof."

1 The Witcher

A lot of fantasy character designs have drawn from Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy, but one of the most commented-on is Henry Cavill's character Geralt in the popular Netflix series The Witcher.

Media outlets have had different opinions on this controversial take; for instance, Forbes said "there are some similarities, but only vaguely" while MSN remarked that Geralt looks "ready to warn us that orcs are taking the hobbits to Isengard."
