New Girl: 10 Couples That Would Have Been Perfect (But Never Got Together)

One of the best storylines and the reason fans tuned into FOX's hit comedy series, New Girl week after week for seven seasons was to see if Nick and Jess would finally get together. They also tuned in anticipating the day Cece and Schmidt would finally tie the know and to see who Winston would get a happily ever after with, and if Coach ever settled down.

The love connections made on New Girl will epic and heartfelt and even at times hilarious. The cast of characters, both main and supporting, were so specific and perfect, it's fun to imagine what could have been if there had been a few more unexpected love connections.

10 Winston And Cece

Winston and Cece had their own very special bond. They loved goofing off and making each other laugh and viewers always benefited from the entertaining "classic mess-arounds". They were clearly best friends and there was never even a hint of romance, but sometimes friends with that strong of a connection can successfully take things to the next level and maybe Winston and Cece should have given it a try.

9 Nick And Aly

Nick and Aly have a lot in common. They both don't like a lot of nonsense and tend to default to grumpiness in pretty much any situation. This couple may not be destined for a happily ever after, but they would definitely be able to support one another and whatever mood they find each other in.

Though, if they did get together, they most likely wouldn't be invited to many game nights or when the group decides to get together for a night of "True American".

8 Reagan And Schmidt

Like Nick and Aly, Reagan and Schmidt make a lot of sense when you compare their personalities. They both are ridiculously good looking and know it. They enjoy making jokes at another person's expense. They have great work ethics and take pride in their jobs, but do tend to let work get in the way. There's probably not enough space in the loft for these two egos, which is why they never ended up together, which is a shame, because it would've been a match made in something other than heaven.

7 Abby And Sam

This couple would only work with Jessica's blessing, and she probably would never give it, which is why it never happened. But, it's still fun to think about what could have been if Jessica's older, yet wildly more irresponsible sister had gotten together with her on-again-off-again doctor boyfriend, Sam.

Sam and Abby could have had a lot of fun together, but it's safe to say that ultimately, their fear of settling down would have caused this match to fizzle out.

6 Nadia And Coach

Nadia was Cece's quirky, yet gorgeous roommate who always managed to deliver surprisingly funny one-liners. Coach loves a woman with a sense of humor and is also very attracted to beautiful models, which means Nadia could have been the perfect match for Coach if they had ever met. Coach disappears after the pilot episode and doesn't return for quite a few seasons. By the time he's back, Nadia is pretty much totally out of the picture and has moved on with her life.

5 Fawn And Kim

These two boss babes would have been a powerful couple. In the series, Schmidt dated Fawn and worked for Kim and neither woman really liked or respected him, so they already seem to have a lot in common.

They are both in authoritative positions and enjoy being in total control, which on the surface sounds like a great pairing, but could potentially become problematic in a relationship. Either way, watching these two together would have provided a lot of entertainment.

4 Sadie And Russell

On the surface, these two would have made a gorgeous couple. They both are successful, independent, and very intelligent adults and it's easy to imagine them traveling the world together and having all the finer things in life. They are both also excellent communicators and listeners so any arguments or disagreements would have been easy to deal with and put out. It's no wonder Jess trusted both of them so much and had so many great moments with each character individually.

3 Jessica's Parents

Jess has been trying for most of her life to get her parents back together. She has been playing "parent trap" since their divorce, hoping to reunite her mom and dad so they could all be a happy family again.

Unfortunately, for Jess, her parents want nothing to do with her plan, despite a few glimmers of hope when these two shared the screen a handful of times over the course of seven seasons. Viewers agree with Jess, her parents are perfect together and should have reunited.

2 Elizabeth And Robby

These were two of the most sensible characters in the entire series. It seems as though both Elizabeth and Robby were both written into the series to be voices of reason for Jess and her roommates. They were always there to balance out the group and stop things from getting too crazy. They would have definitely been able to live a normal, happy life out of Los Angeles if they had ever been set up on a date together.

1 Shelby And Ryan

Shelby and Ryan are two more very good looking people who would have made a great couple. They are both very kind and made great partners to Winston and Jess, respectively, so they may have been great companions to one another too! Shelby also has a great sense of humor and is very witty, she definitely would have been able to loosen Ryan up a little bit so he could have some fun!
