Aladdin Main Characters Ranked By Likability | ScreenRant

1992's Aladdin is one of the greatest Disney movies of all time, and the main reason for that is the amazing cast of characters. There is a real mix of personalities within this fantastic animation, going from animals to magical characters to princesses and sultans.

There is something in Aladdin for everyone and while the movie tells a fantastic moral story, the humor and emotion of that are really driven home by the characters themselves. But which of the characters happen to be the most likable? When taking a look at the personalities and actions of each throughout the entire movie, it is easy to determine who of this group has the highest likability.

10 Razoul

While he may not be the main villain within this movie, Razoul is certainly the least likable character to appear. He is the Captain of the Agrabah Guard and is someone who is in a trusted position of power. However, he abuses that and treats the citizens incredibly poorly without The Sultan knowing.

He also happily does whatever Jafar asks of him, proving that he's incredibly untrustworthy and lacks any real integrity. The fact that he's incredibly aggressive and rude to people certainly doesn't help either, making him very unlikeable.

9 Jafar

Jafar is obviously another very unlikeable character, which is no surprise as he is the main villain within the movie. He is a dangerous person who is constantly plotting to be as powerful as possible, no matter who he hurts along the way, which easily makes him easy to hate.

One positive that Jafar does have going for him is that he's very intelligent and he does know exactly what he wants to do, ensuring that he gets that. Sadly, he doesn't put that fantastic brain to positive use and only uses it for selfish reasons.

8 Iago

The only reason Iago is slightly more likable than Jafar is that there seems to be a part of this bird that is actually good. He also shows that he's very loyal, even if that is to someone who is evil and Iago does provide quite a few funny moments throughout the film with his dry one-liners.

However, there is no doubt that in the grand scheme of things, Iago is an unlikeable character as he spies on others without their consent and happily goes along with all of Jafar's plots and schemes, despite the danger they put others in.

7 The Sultan

The Sultan is certainly a kind person who just wants to make sure everyone is happy, especially his daughter. However, he's not a great listener as he doesn't actually hear what Princess Jasmine is saying in regards to what she wants from her life and any potential marriage.

This is something that frustrates her and makes him less likable. Moreover, The Sultan is also quite gullible and doesn't really see the danger that is right in front of him throughout his life, which does ring some alarming bells. However, his generosity and general niceness do make him more likable than anything else.

6 Rajah

When Princess Jasmine is on her own in the palace with her father not understanding her problems, it is her pet tiger, Rajah who provides her real source of comfort and friendship. He's very loyal and protective of Jasmine, and that's why he's so likable.

Rajah is able to judge people instantly and decide if they're a good fit to be around Jasmine, always making sure she is with someone who will look after her, which is what any good friend should do.

5 Abu

Abu might be a monkey, but he is certainly Aladdin's best friend and he really is very cheeky. While he can go a little too far at points, which can be a little unlikeable, for the most part, Abu is just tons of fun throughout the entire movie.

It's hard to know what Abu is going to do because of his cheekiness, but one thing that for sure is that he will always be by Aladdin's side. His loyalty to Aladdin makes him very likable, as that is something that everyone is looking for in a friend.

4 Princess Jasmine

Princess Jasmine isn't like the typical princess characters that most movies showcase. She doesn't just want a fancy ball and gown and instead actually years to learn more about life beyond the palace, and isn't willing to just compromise on who she marries, which is a very respectable trait.

While Jasmine can be a little moody at points, for the most part, she's a very likable character and someone who is a really strong judge of character. Jasmine is kind and considerate of others and willing to put her trust in people which instantly makes her likable.

3 Magic Carpet

The Magic Carpet may not be able to talk, but that doesn't stop him from becoming one of the most likable characters within Aladdin. Found inside the Cave of Wonders, the Magic Carpet instantly proves himself to be one of the most loyal Disney characters of all time.

The fact that the character is clearly able to get his points across without ever talking really showcases fantastic animation, and that makes him a lot of fun. He's full of energy and never really stops, bringing some good fun alongside Abu and The Genie along the journey.

2 The Genie

The Genie might only be classed as a Disney sidekick, but the performance that Robin Williams provides for this film made the character so much more than that. The character was the one who brought all of the magical elements to the movie with his powers and while that was a lot of fun, it's not what defines him.

His friendship and kindness are what make The Genie a truly brilliant character. Sure, his three wishes are brilliant, but it is the advice he gives throughout the movie that really hits home. Plus, he is quite easily the funniest character, which certainly doesn't hurt his likability.

1 Aladdin

Aladdin himself just edges out The Genie as the most likable character within his movie and that is mainly down to the tough background he comes from. While The Genie is stuck inside of a lamp, Aladdin has to scratch and claw just to survive and his amazing humility comes from that.

Aladdin is one of the kindest characters, and that doesn't just come when he has a magical Genie or riches as a prince. Even when he's poor he still thinks of others first, fights for what he believes in no matter what, and proves he is loyal and trustworthy, which is why he's so likable and popular amongst Disney fans.
