Rocket League Fortnite Battle Bus Added In Llama-Rama Event

Rocket League is launching as free-to-play tomorrow, which will be celebrated this weekend through an in-game crossover event with Fortnite that rewards players with the infamous Battle Bus. Epic Games announced the event last week, but now the details for the crossover event have been revealed.

Rocket League announced that it would be going free-to-play on all platforms earlier this year, and that the new free-to-play Rocket League would see a few changes. First, Rocket League will no longer be purchasable for PC via Steam. Instead, players can download Rocket League through the Epic Games Store for free. Players can also use their Epic Games accounts to carry their progression and items from platform to platform. Rocket League will also receive updated menus, revamped tournaments, and different methods of unlocking cosmetic items as part of the free-to-play launch.

To celebrate Rocket League's newfound home on the Epic Games Store, the motorsports soccer game is teaming up with Fortnite for an in-game event titled Llama-Rama. Rocket League and Fortnite announced Llama-Rama last week but waited to release the details until today. The event will start on Saturday, September 26th, at 3 p.m. PDT, and will last until October 12th. The event will reward players with Fortnite-themed cosmetics as they participate in matches and complete challenges. One of the cosmetic reward players can earn is Fortnite's Battle Bus as a car body. Other cosmetics include Llama-themed paint jobs, wheels, and accessories.

Fortnite will also receive its own in-game rewards during the event which have yet to be announced. Players who download Rocket League on the Epic Games Store shortly after its free-to-play release will also earn a $10 coupon that can be used on games of $15 or more purchased from Epic Games. Fortnite has also announced that Slushii will kick off the Llama-Rama event with a live concert that will take place in Fortnite's Party Royale mode on September 26th at 5 p.m. EST.

Rocket League's free-to-play launch is likely to draw in a large number of new players, and its partnership with Fortnite will definitely help boost that number. The idea of having the Battle Bus as a playable vehicle is fantastic, and is the biggest draw for the event. Hopefully, Fortnite will offer the iconic cars from Rocket League as gliders or use some of the more iconic car contrails. Regardless, the crossover between Fortnite and Rocket League is bound to be an exciting event.
