Frozen: All of Elsa's Dresses, Ranked | ScreenRant

For fans of Disney princesses, enjoying the different costume designs can be fascinating. While some of the older princesses really only have one or two outfits, Elsa and Anna from Frozen both get a wide array of outfits over the two films they feature in as well as the two short movies.

These costumes are rather intricate and well-designed, and they often illustrate just how much work and detail goes into today’s animation. Plus, for fans of style and beautiful gowns, Elsa’s dresses are stunning to examine. However, some of them are better than others.

10 Simple white dress from Frozen 2

This is the dress that Elsa wears when she is trying to cross the Dark Sea on her own to get to Ahtohallan. It’s really just a stripped-down version of the travel outfit she wears for half of the movie.

Because of this, it’s much more simple. Elsa is trying to be more practical and has her hair tied back, as she plunges into the icy waters and tries to use her powers to cross the treacherous water.

9 The farewell dress

This is probably one of the least well-known of all of the outfits that Elsa wears even though it is shown in the first Frozen film. She wears this get-up in a brief scene when she and Anna say goodbye to their parents.

It’s a good outfit in the sense that it shows the cultural elements of Arendelle. However, it’s more simplistic and constricted. She’s wearing this dress at a time where she’s having to hide everything about herself, and the dress also feels restrictive.

8 Her coronation ensemble

There are definitely many beautiful elements to Elsa's coronation costume. The design elements reflect the architecture of the castle, and there are definitely some Scandanivnai influences here.

However, once again, Elsa is still having to conceal so much of herself at this point. The dress is buttoned up and a little matronly in appearance, and she doesn’t look as queenly as in some of her other gowns.

7 Light purple gown from Frozen 2

This is the outfit that Elsa is first wearing when we see her in Frozen 2. It’s a pale purple color, and it’s simple yet lovely. While it might be a bit plainer than some of her other dresses, there are small details on the sleeves and buttons that make it royal.

While many of Elsa’s gowns are blue or white, she also has many with purple colors and elements. It’s a nice, everyday look for her, but it’s not the most extravagant.

6 Her green Frozen Fever dress

Even big fans of Frozen might not have ever seen or heard of this dress, but it is rather beautiful. The dress is worn in the short animated feature, Frozen Fever, and it is a departure from the color palette Elsa normally wears.

It’s green and is clearly a springtime dress. It is beautiful, but it doesn’t seem to fit Elsa’s personality as much as some of the other dresses on this list.

5 Her practical dress/pant outfit

While this outfit does contain a dress, it also has pants which are a practical choice for going on a journey across the wilderness. This more realistic outfit is just one reason why Frozen 2 might be better than the original.

While it is a little more reserved of an outfit, there are many little details that are quite exquisite. There are lots of snowflakes motifs throughout the overcoat, and it’s also a great moment because she’s one of the few Disney princesses who ever gets to wear pants.

4 The dress and cape from Olaf’s Frozen Adventure

This is another dress that not everyone has seen because it is the outfit Elsa wears in the holiday animated short. However, it’s really quite gorgeous. It’s a deep blue color with a fur collar and a long, wintery cape.

The dress works so well for the character because it is full of wintertime elements. It’s a little heavier in feel than her other gowns, but it is very pretty. While Olaf might be the star of this short movie, Elsa's dress is a close second.

3 The deep purple nightgown

While the top two dresses on this list are the outfits Elsa wears when having her most triumphant moments, this more understated ensemble is just stunning.

The deep purple color suits Elsa as royalty, and it has so many delicate details. It’s a bit shimmery, and it’s a bit more dark and moody than some of her other dresses. Because the dress is a darker shade, it can be hard to see just how many intricate elements it has.

2 Her “Let It Go” frock

This is probably the most iconic dress, and the most iconic song, on this list. There’s no denying that the outfit Elsa crafts for herself when she finally unleashes her powers is amazing.

It’s shimmery and glittery and looks like snow when it glistens. The pale blue and silver colors are perfect for an ice queen. Plus, with her braid hairstyle and newfound freedom, the dress matches the ice castle setting around her, too.

1 “Show Yourself” white dress

While the “Let It Go” dress is great, the final gown from Frozen 2 is slightly better. This is another transformation dress that Elsa gets while singing a song about her journey. This is the final stage of her quest to find her true self, and she’s embracing her place as the ice spirit.

It’s got diamonds and sparkles, and the snow-white color is stunning. Plus, she has a flowing, magical cape and practical leggings to match.
