South Park: The 10 Worst Things The Gang Did To Butters

When it comes to characters in television who are constantly victims, it is hard to find somebody who has endured more than Butters from South Park. Although he is the sweetest and most innocent kid in town, he experiences so much poor treatment and sadly, even abuse. This can be seen by the vast majority of people around him. His parents are nothing short of horrid to him, and they are supposed to be the people keeping him safe.

However, when it comes to the main group of kids, they have done even worse by him over the show's run. Butters has had to experience a plethora of events that one would not wish upon their worst enemy. Yet, with him, it was done by the people who are supposed to be his closest friends. This was and always will be expected of Cartman, but the rest of the gang uncharacteristically have been atrocious to Butters on numerous occasions, too.

10 Cartman Indirectly Made Him Go To Christian Conversion Camp

Stephen, Butters' father, would walk in on Cartman pranking Butters, which led him to believe that he was questioning his sexuality, which went against his strong Christian faith. Butters would then be sent away to a Christian Conversion camp while not understanding what was even going on.

Cartman also had been performing grotesque pranks before this, as well as taking photographs of them. This was an abysmal way to treat a friend, to begin with, but the aftermath of what had occurred was even worse for our Butters.

9 Caused Him To Get Beat Up Trent Boyett

Even though Butters did not tell Trent Boyett to start the fire, he found himself wrapped up in their business. He did not want to tell the police about the boys asking Trent to start the fire, as he would have been grounded.

Once Trent was released, he would assault Butters so brutally that he would be hospitalized. Thus, even as toddlers, the gang was causing Butters to experience a lot of turmoil, and this whole thing shouldn't have been his problem in the first place.

8 Made Him Fake His Death To Go To Girl's Slumber Party

In an attempt to obtain the girls' "future telling device," the gang created a plan to make Butters pretend to be one, as well. However, while doing this, they made Butters fake his death. This not only traumatized Butters, but his family, as well.

He would go to the slumber party as Marjorine and was treated very poorly there, as well. Also, when he came back home as Butters, his family thought that he was a demon, so they forced him to be chained up down his basement.

7 They Mocked His Dance Moves

Butters has always been a character who is innocent and likes to have fun. When he was promoted to a main member of the friend group after Kenny's death, this was more displayed to the audience. Yet, this did not mesh well with the group, as they would tease him relentlessly.

A prime example where this would be shown was when Cartman and the group were angry about him dancing while at a party. It clearly displays just how much the group simply cannot accept him for who he is.

6 Forced Butters To Gain Weight

In an attempt to get rich, the boys forced Butters to gain weight. They were aiming for him to undergo a viral transformation similar to that of a former Subway spokesman, but, instead of going through Subway, they opted to use City Wok.

When Butters was not able to lose the weight quickly enough, the boys decided to perform in-house liposuction on him. The surgery was obviously botched, while also being one of the most disgusting scenes from the entire season. Overall, this was just atrocious behavior by the gang.

5 Made Him Go On Live Television With An "Altered" Apperance

The boys always seem to use Butters as the victim of their ploys to become rich. Another big example of this was when they made Butters put balls on his chin to go on The Maury Povich Show.

They did this knowing not only that Butters would get in trouble with his parents, but also it would make him get laughed at. They also manipulated him to do this by saying he was not as good of a friend as Kenny. This was just another example of how atrociously they treated him throughout the series.

4 Cartman Mimicked Butters On The Phone To His Parents

When Butters was on his City Wok diet, Cartman offered to pretend to be him on the phone while he was out. Cartman would show Butters that his impression of him was solid, so Butters gladly accepted his help. However, Cartman would end up getting Butters in a ton of trouble.

This was due to the fact that Cartman would say a lot of inappropriate things while they called. Once his parents made it back, Butters was not aware of all of what was said, and he would end up getting physically abused. To add insult to injury, Cartman would gleefully listen from outside the house.

3 They Belittled His Feelings During A Breakdown

It seemed as though that Butters finally hit a breaking point while at school. After beating up Scott Malkinson, he would lock himself in the school bathroom. The boys would check in on him, but it quickly would lead to him being made fun of. Although Butters would hold his own while this all occurred, it was disappointing that they did not show much sympathy for him. Instead, they made jokes about him and Kenny after he called them out for their bad behavior.

2 Tricked Into Thinking The World Ended

Cartman obviously has treated Butters the worst out of everyone in the group. This was definitely seen when he tricked Butters into believing the world had ended to be able to go to Kyle's birthday party at Casa Bonita.

To make this lie work, Cartman managed to make Butters stay inside a bomb shelter. He would later escape and "recreate civilization" in the town's garbage dump. This was a truly sick and selfish act by Cartman, as it clearly left a massive impact on Butters.

1 Got Ninja Star Stuck In Eye

While pretending to battle, Kenny would throw a ninja star in Butters' eye. They refused to take him to the hospital, as they cared far more about staying out of trouble from their parents. This alone was an abysmal move by them.

However, this would progress to even worse levels, as they would dress him up as a dog to get him to be seen by their local vet. They would lose him in the process though, and he would end up staying in the dog shelter, where he was almost killed. This was easily one of the worst moments for him in the show's history.
