Bachelor: Matt’s Women Support Rachael After Emotional IG Post

The controversies surrounding Rachael Kirkconnell almost blew up this season of The Bachelor. While Rachael absolutely should be held accountable for her actions, she’s been through an undeniably difficult time since ending the show with Matt. Rachael has since told Bachelor Nation that they need to “be better,” and it seems she’s starting with herself. In an emotional Instagram post, she spoke to what went wrong and what needs to happen moving forward, and Rachael got an outpouring of support from her season 25 castmates.

After the racially insensitive actions of her past torpedoed her relationship with Matt, Rachael was silent on social media for some time. But eventually she admitted to her past, apologized, and pledged to educate herself on why what she did was wrong. If After the Final Rose is any indication, she’s come a long way since then, but not long enough to win back Matt’s heart. The two didn’t reconcile on the show, but it would appear that the other women from Matt’s season have Rachael’s back and appreciate how much she has learned already.

Rachael took to Instagram to address the finale and her time on the show and with Matt, saying “while I certainly wish things turned out differently, I also believe there is a reason for everything.” She expresses that she didn’t expect this outcome but respects and understands Matt’s decision. Rachael comments that she’s grateful for the time she got to spend with Matt and says “I truly believe he was the love of my life.” In the past, Rachael hasn’t followed her castmates on Instagram, but comments “this was supposed to be a monumental season, and one of the biggest disappointments has been the overshadowing of these beautiful women and their stories.

Rachael’s castmates were quick to show support, and she received comments from Abigail, Mari, Serena P., Pieper, Jessenia, M.J., Sarah, and Brittany. Many of the women sent heart emojis her way, and commended her for the work she’s done. “Proud of you for having important conversations and the progress you’re making!” said Mari. Pieper commented “cheers to change,” and Brittany enthused “WE STAN RACHAEL” in all-caps. Even After the Final Rose host Emmanuel Acho said “Appreciate your vulnerability and humility. Wishing you nothing but the best my friend,” after her difficult interview with Matt.

There are many, including Rachael’s family, who claim she is not racist and was devastated by everything that happened while she was on (and off) The Bachelor. But Rachael seems to agree that she needs to take accountability. Her castmates feel that she’s doing well so far, and their touching show of solidarity proves that you can recover from the mistakes of the past if you can prove you’re committed to change and bettering yourself and others. It’s hard to say where Rachael goes from here, but at least she’s on her way to further enlightenment.
