Christina Anstead and Tarek El Moussa from Flip Or Flop choose to still work together despite their divorce. When they announced their split publicly, viewers were sure their HGTV show would come to an end. However, the former couple decided to put their differences aside and continue to create a good show for their loyal fans. While it may have been difficult at times, Christina and Tarek were committed to doing their jobs.
The couple announced their divorce in December 2016, after a scary incident that took place at their home in May 2016. The police were called after Christina saw Tarek go out into the woods with a gun. She feared for his life and worried he was suicidal. However, Tarek assured the public he was fine. He said he only took his gun along to protect himself from any wild animals. Since that incident and the divorce filing, the couple has been on much better terms.
When the show was renewed for a seventh season, viewers were shocked the couple decided to still work together despite their divorce. However, Tarek and Christina, who met in the 2000s, felt it was the right decision. In an interview with Today from 2018, Christina spoke about their working relationship post-divorce. She revealed there are times when they want to "kill each other." A director for the show added that some of their fights were so big that they made their way onto some of the footage for season eight. Tarek and Christina even agreed that the working dynamic is much better now that their divorce is final. He explained that the couple has been doing this for so long, it has become a part of who they are.
In the end, it wasn't worth it for them to throw away all their hard work. While the pair realized their situation is non-traditional and it may be difficult at times, they had a job to do. "One day you're no longer living together and you separate, and you still have to put your pants on, put your shoes on and go to work the next day," Tarek revealed during an episode of The Dr. Drew Podcast. "It was a very difficult experience, but as time went on obviously it got easier and easier. And at the end of the day, we have a job to do, we have a family to support." Even when Christina began a relationship with Ant Anstead, Tarek was totally supportive of their relationship and was happy she found someone. Christina felt the same way when Tarek began a relationship with Heather Rae Young.
Overall, Tarek and Christina were able to make their professional relationship work even though they were no longer together. The television show is a large part of their income and they need that money to provide for their family. Now that it has been four-and-a-half years since the couple decided to part ways, Christina and Tarek have moved on from their old drama.
