Cobra Kai: How Johnny & Daniel Partnership Will Change Season 4

Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso's new alliance, established in order to defeat John Kreese, will change the dynamics of Cobra Kai season 4 and the Karate Kid franchise as a whole. The eternal rivalry between Johnny and Daniel goes beyond a mere grudge against each other; their feud involves a war between dojos that spans more than thirty years. However, the two senseis have finally decided to set aside their differences and bring Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang together to take down Cobra Kai.

Throughout the three first seasons of Cobra Kai, Johnny and Daniel have shared brief moments of peace where they almost bury the hatchet for good just before unfortunate circumstances rekindle their enmity. But with John Kreese recruiting Johnny's son Robby and the Cobra Kai students trashing Daniel LaRusso's house during the Cobra Kai season 3 finale, Johnny and Daniel are finally joining forces in season 4. Such an unprecedented event completely alters the core of the series.

One distinct quality of Cobra Kai is that neither side is truly villainous. Viewers meet Johnny Lawrence as a down-on-his-luck man with a genuine will to improve. Johnny slowly redeems himself after years of being a bully by reviving Cobra Kai and teaching new students actual self-defense. From the very start, Cobra Kai builds upon The Karate Kid by making William Zabka's famous bully Johnny Lawrence a sympathetic protagonist. While Daniel is introduced as the pampered owner of LaRusso Motors, he proves to be the same humble kid from the Karate Kid movies, with enough generosity to train a new generation in the ways of his own sensei Mr. Miyagi. Of course, the two senseis naturally clashed, but the audience has always had reasons to root for both.

Now, John Kreese presents a common threat that brings Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang together. This is the first time in Cobra Kai that there's a crystal-clear distinction between the good guys and the villain, who has manipulated Robby Keene into siding with him. Another distinct quality of Cobra Kai is that the show is always evolving. For instance, Robby's transformation from bad boy into a kind (but insecure) student, as well as Hawk's transformation from shy underdog to ruthless bully, have contributed to the popularity of the series. Not only will Johnny and Daniel fight on the same team together for the first time but the students of both dojos will also end their own grudges against each other to fight a common enemy.

In short, almost every character in Cobra Kai is set to change by the beginning of season 4. This is a good sign of what season 4 has in store, as it guarantees the series is about to tread new ground with the same level of high-stakes drama as before, if not more. This is further heightened by the arrival of John Kreese's friend, Terry Silver. Everything is set up so Cobra Kai season 4 will be like nothing fans have seen before.
