Jovi Dufren calling his 90 Day Fiancé wife, Yara Zaya, “psycho” and finding faults in the way she parents baby Mylah have been met with great outrage from TLC viewers. Episode 12 of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? wasn’t a good one for Yara, who kicked Jovi's family out of the house at just 6pm while celebrating Ukrainian Christmas. But Jovi went one step further by asking Yara to get away from their life and wanting the "old Yara" back by claiming she wasn't fun anymore. A fun weekend is what Jovi wants with Yara, but would it really help fix their 90 Day Fiancé relationship?
Out of all the couples on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? season 6 that fans have come to dislike, Jovi and Yara were promising after their compatibility was tested in their debut season. Yara, who was initially snobby and snooty, and Jovi, an alcohol-loving party-boy, became fan-favorites after they became mom and dad to Mylah. Still, Jovi, who has hardly been a part of Yara and Mylah’s life since they got married due to his crazy ROV supervisor job, had some questionable insights to share about his wife’s motherly duties. Jovi wished for Yara to be less possessive of baby Mylah and live a little, which he has said out loud plenty of times on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?
The last few episodes of the 90 Day Fiancé spin-off have seen a steady decline in Yara’s popularity, also owing to her social media scandal involving the upselling of her fashion products. Add to that getting mom-shamed by Gwen and retaliating by telling her to leave, Yara showed a more villainous side this week. Yara claimed it was hard for her to run five times a night to Mylah’s crib when no one was helping, leading to her co-sleeping with the baby. But Jovi joined his mom in the Yara-bashing, which led a Reddit user to post, “I wish Jovi had a brain so he could appreciate what a good mom Yara is.”
The 90 Day Fiancé fan called Jovi out for not appreciating Yara, as she, unlike some women who would be ready to party right away after having kids, is busy paying all her attention to the baby. The fan noted that Jovi is certainly not ready to let go of his “frat boy at 30” life himself but had a problem with Yara being “one of the best moms” who puts “her baby above everything else.” The 90 Day Fiancé viewer is of the opinion that Yara would have somehow gotten hate even if she was shown partying with Jovi and probably would have been called a “bad mom.” The fan also wondered if Jovi would have judged Yara differently if she were “some deadbeat” who got pregnant and made his mom, Gwen, do all the baby duties instead.
As Yara asked Gwen to leave during the episode, the 90 Day Fiancé mother-in-law talked about Jovi’s wife being strict and her son not having “any say” despite him stepping into “Yara’s world” straight from his work. However, both Yara and Gwen have repeatedly assured fans that they’re best friends off-screen. But Yara does think that Jovi should not be pushing her around, especially after she's finally comfortable in the United States. Whether this happens due to Jovi planning a trip to “get away from this life” or to revive “the old Yara” on HEA episode 13 remains to be seen.
