Upcoming horror game Chernobylite has announced its console release date with a new trailer, which also gives an in-depth look at the real-world Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and surrounding locations in comparison to the survival horror video game. From developer The Farm 51, Chernobylite aims to offer one of the most realistic interpretations of the disaster area.
Chernobylite's environments have been created using 3D scanning technology to help recreate locations associated with the historic nuclear accident. The development team explored the Power Plant and nearby areas close to the city of Pripyat, Ukraine, to create the most visually realistic title possible. The horror game follows the story of Igor, a former employee of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, who returns in search of his lost love. Igor faces not just military foes, but also supernatural threats as the story unfolds. The game is coming to console and PC this summer after entering Steam Early Access in 2019.

The video highlights places such as the Power Plant, Pripyat Amusement Park, and the Pripyat Cargo Port, all of which have been faithfully remade within the game. Various developers from The Farm 51 are shown capturing footage using drones and cameras, which will ensure that gamers will experience a highly realistic virtual experience when the game launches. The trailer also announces the console release date for Chernobylite, which will come to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 7.

PC players looking to experience the horror of Chernobylite will be able to access to game ahead of its console launch. The title will release on Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store on July 28. The Farm 51 has announced that anyone who purchased the game while in Early Access will receive free DLC as a thank you for the support. Just one of the DLC items in the bundle has been revealed so far, the Railgun Kinetic Cannon, a weapon that causes massive damage by creating an enormous electromagnetic field. While players can take a stealthy approach to the game, all-out combat is also possible.
Chernobylite's developers have been working hard to create the best experience possible for players at launch, with a major patch fixing over 2000 bugs earlier this month. As well as fixing glitches and technical issues, the Chernobylite update added Hungarian and Ukrainian localization, as well as increasing the number of enemies that can appear within the map. With improved gameplay, visual fixes, and its faithfully recreated locations, Chernobylite could be one of the scariest games of the year.
Chernobylite releases on PC on July 28, and comes to PS4 and Xbox One on September 7.
