Kang The Conqueror Defeats The Avengers In New Marvel Series

Warning! Spoilers for Kang The Conqueror #1 by Marvel Comics below

Kang the Conqueror is getting his own miniseries at Marvel Comics, and the villain's first issue will start off with a bang as a new cover shows the time-traveling bad guy sitting among a group of defeated Avengers. In a new Stormbreakers cover homaging his past encounters with the superteam by Joshua Cassara, Kang floats above a past Avengers team who appear to be destroyed by the villain.

Earlier this year, Marvel Comics revealed Kang would be starring in his own miniseries for the first time, examining the mystery surrounding his life story. The longtime Avengers' villain has appeared in many forms in the comics from his main form from the 31st Century, an ancient Egyptian variant named Rama-Tut, a time-master variant called Immortus, and a heroic version who became the hero Iron Lad. Almost every Kang ultimately becomes a villain - meaning Marvel superteams and heroes from across time are often left dealing with some version of Kang in their realities. Most recently, a variant of Kang, He Who Remains, appeared on the Disney+ series Loki.

Kang The Conqueror #1 by Collin Kelly, Jackson Lanzing, Carlos Magno, Espen Grundetjern, Joe Caramagna, and Alanna Smith will take a deeper dive into Kang's origin and further explain the character to both new and old readers. The miniseries will be ripe with time-travel shenanigans one might expect from a Kang-led series. In a new cover for the series by Joshua Cassara, Kang destroys the Avengers.

The cover, which homages one of his most iconic fights with the Avengers, is a bloody scene for the superteam. Carol Danvers, in her black Ms. Marvel costume, lays in her own blood. Meanwhile, Vision has battle damage on his head and cape, Goliath had blood dripping down his mouth, and Wasp lays defeated. Perhaps the best part of the cover is Kang looking largely unbothered by the events below him.

Kelly revealed Kang the Conqueror #1 will tackle Kang's origin with the remaining four issues focusing on his life story. For those who are curious about Kang's place in the Marvel Universe, it seems the miniseries will be a great primer for who Kang is, where he came from, and what he's accomplished throughout time. Kang on the Conqueror #1 will feature 12 covers - including a variant from Iban Coello and Alejandro Sanchez where he takes on the Young Avengers.
