Legends Of Tomorrow: 10 Unpopular Opinions About The Show (According To Reddit)

Even though Legends of Tomorrow belongs among the most popular Arrowverse shows as it has run for six seasons and counting, but that doesn't mean the fans don't find flaws in the show. They can point out the lacking development of certain characters or disappointing storylines. Overall, a lot of fans are quick to express their varied opinions about the show online.

Reddit serves as a place for the fans to discuss their favorite show and its heroes, and what they would like to change about the Legends of Tomorrow if given the chance. Sometimes, the opinions of some fans differ from the general consensus, and that usually leads to an interesting discussion about the merits of the show.

10 It's For Toddlers

Legends of Tomorrow has been a more relaxed and cheerful show than Arrow right from the start. However, Harpua2814 believes that the most recent season took that too far. They believe it's gone off the rails and the network gives "the producers and showrunners notes to gear the show more toward... TODDLERS?"

It's difficult to imagine toddlers watching and comprehending all the time-traveling shenanigans, though. Not to mention that the show doesn't shy away from portraying its characters' misery and pain, such as when Zari and Constantine break up temporarily or when Behrad dies.

9 The First Season Is Actually Good

A lot of the fans criticized the first season for its subpar main villain Vandal Savage as well as the storyline concerning Kendra's and Carter's relationship. But BrawlingBoss and others believe the first season was much better than others give it credit for.

One reason is that they "miss a ton of the old characters, like Stein, Jax, Ray, Snart, and Rip." Other arguments the fans came up with were that the first season had the characters use their powers more and wear their superhero costumes.

8 Sara Doesn't Have A Proper Backstory

One could presume that, as the leader of the Legends, Sara would receive a detailed, complex backstory and characterization. But not all fans of the show are happy with the direction the show took Sara's character in.

Outrageous_Ad4128 complained they were looking forward to seeing more of Sara's backstory or her future development but all they got "is puppets, cherries, pinky slippers, goofing with Ava, doing dishes." It's true that the show glazed over some darker parts of Sara's life that appeared on Arrow, such as her bloodlust or the loss of her friends but it also proved that Sara could move on and be happier than before.

7 Vandal Savage Was A Good Villain

A lot of the people who watched the show weren't so thrilled about Vandal Savage, partially because his onscreen persona was very different from the one in the comics where Savage comes across as far more dangerous and cunning.

But not all of the fans disliked Savage's portrayal. Spazzblister commented in a discussion about Savage they thought "Savage was a good bad guy. Not as good as the Legion, but I didn't mind him." In comparison with some other opinions about Savage, this is a ringing endorsement and proves that every fan views the show's villains in a different way.

6 Beebo Shouldn't Come Back

Of all the shows in the Arrowverse, only Legends of Tomorrow could introduce a talking blue toy as a major player and get away with it. Beebo helped the team save the day when they fought the dangerous demon Mallus and once again showed up during the crossover Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Some Reddit users believe that Beebo should come back, but others aren't sold on the idea. According to SixIsNotANumber: "That gag has been milked enough already." so bringing Beebo back wouldn't work. Whether that's the case or not, it doesn't change the fact that Beebo is immensely popular with a lot of the fans.

5 Hawkgirl And Hawkman Should Return

Speaking of old characters coming back, nazia987 thought it would be interesting for Kendra and Carter to come back since "their personalities will be more developed, and I think it would be exciting to see."

But CityAvenger was quick to point out they're alright with what they have and that "if they brought them back then they would need to bring back Jax, Rip, Stein (somehow), Snart, & Ray." Overall, Kendra and Carter were never as popular as other Legends, so it's unlikely they will ever rejoin the team again.

4 Behrad Is A Walking Trope

Of the Tarazi siblings, Zari seems like the better fleshed-out one. So much so that her brother doesn't seem to have much to do in many of the episodes. Even more importantly, some fans aren't happy with Behrad's characterization, or lack thereof.

thelongestshot pointed out that "doing drugs is not a replacement for a personality." Adas_Legend agreed and said that "the stoner angle is killing Behrad’s character and making him look like a trope." Whether that's the case or not, maybe Behrad would indeed deserve more space on the show and more opportunities to shine.

3 Nate And Behrad Don't Work

After Nate's iconic friendship with Ray, some fans found the friendship between him and Behrad disappointing. Sahil-2901 commented that "Nate and Behrad got zero bromance." jessie_monster agreed and said that they "don't really like Nate that much if he isn't bouncing off Ray."

Perhaps the reason for the lacking bromance is that the show didn't have as much time to establish the storyline of the friendship between Nate and Behrad. Behrad simply appeared at one moment, and he and Nate were presumably great friends already, but the audience never saw how they came to be bros.

2 Ava's And Sara's Romance Is Overrated

Sara and Ava have one of the most prominent and stable romances on the show. Considering their pasts, both of them deserve the happiness they found with each other. Not all people who watched the show enjoyed the romance, though.

wassupyallzzz said they thought the romance "is overrated" and that they liked Sara's other relationships more, such as Sara's story arc with Nyssa or even her brief fling with Alex Danvers. This proves that even the most popular pairings don't sit well with everyone.

1 Rip Hunter Made The Show Better

As the original captain of the team, Rip Hunter was far from perfect. Even though he had a clear motivation for what he was doing — he wanted to avenge the death of his wife and son — he still lied to his team and manipulated them.

Rip only redeemed himself in the third season when he sacrificed his life to save the team. His heroic death marked the change in tone for the show. Many fans didn't like Rip because of his manipulative nature, but ThumbCentral-Rebirth believes that "The show was better with Rip." TheGameMaster115 agreed and added that "Rip brought a sense of seriousness and balance to the show. After he died the show took a nose dive into comedy."
