Ubisoft has let loose another trailer for Far Cry 6, this time providing an overview of the gameplay and main storyline. Following a bout of leaks, the publisher officially unveiled Far Cry 6 last during one of its digital Ubisoft Forward events. The title stars Breaking Bad's and The Mandalorian's Giancarlo Esposito, who provided performance capture for the role of Antón Castillo, the ruthless dictator of Yara.
A fictional island based on real-world Cuba, Yara seems an anachronism, lost in time with regards to the technology and resources at its disposal. Castillo, widely known as El Presidente, has set an ambitious yet merciless plan in motion to alter the island's future, a plan that should wrest the people out of decades past and into the future he envisions. Far Cry 6's protagonist, Dani Rojas, finds themselves caught in the middle of a revolution to rid the island nation of Castillo's destructive influence.
Today, September 8, Ubisoft unleashed another close look at Far Cry 6 via a "Game Overview Trailer." The video breaks down the overarching story, as well as Dani's role in it. Of course, Castillo takes the spotlight for a time; in one particular segment, the character recalls memories of communicating with his imprisoned father through a vent. Dani's allies also receive a bit of shine. Though the character's reluctance to join the fight against El Presidente is clear as day, they'll find themselves in league with a group of people whose guerrilla tactics could very well save Yara. Said tactics will require players to experiment with an array of weapons, each modifiable with thanks to complementary attachments and mods.
According to recent Far Cry 6 previews, this upcoming entry in the long-running franchise should feel familiar to series veterans. Essentially, players have more Far Cry to look forward to, another trademark Ubisoft open-world adventure to dig into. How fans will take to the experience itself remains to be seen, of course.
On PC, the title should pack in a whole host of neat bells and whistles, including ray tracing, ultra-wide monitor support, FidelityFX, and an HD texture pack. The latest consoles will receive a fair few boosts, as well. And those who play on last-gen hardware need not worry about upgrade paths. Ubisoft recently reiterated that PS5 and Xbox Series X|S upgrades won't cost a penny.
Far Cry 6 lands on Google Stadia, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S platforms on October 7.
