I Know What You Did Last Summer Episode 6 Explains 6 Mysteries

Warning: Spoilers ahead for I Know What You Did Last Summer.

I Know What You Did Last Summer season 1’s episode 6, called “Least You Had a Spare,” finally explains several mysteries previously teased throughout the horror series. At the end of episode 5, a woman was heard gasping, with I Know What You Did Last Summer teasing that Clara may have been murdered by the elusive killer. However, the show throws another wrench in the plot by revealing it was Riley who was stabbed.

I Know What You Did Last Summer is biding its time with its central mystery, offering fans crumbs of information that, despite everything, continue to paint a clearer picture regarding what happened on the night of Lennon’s death. That has led to delving deeper into the backstories of certain characters, including Bruce, Alison and Lennon’s father, and Clara, the lone cult member still living in town. Just when Lyla pointed out that the killer’s victims have only been men, they kill Riley, who manages to survive until the very end of episode 5.

In addition to killing off another one of Alison/Lennon’s friends, I Know What You Did Last Summer season 1, episode 6 finally expands upon six of the mysteries that were introduced earlier in the series. With some of the most pertinent questions answered, the Amazon show is primed to reveal even more in the coming episodes.

I Know What You Did Last Summer revealed rather early on that Bruce and Clara were well acquainted with each other. After Clara “finds” Lennon’s body, Bruce goes to see her and it’s obvious by the way they spoke to each other that there was a history between them. Alison later discovers that Bruce and Clara were not just friends, but that they were once married, both of whom members of the cult living on the fringes of Wai Huna. At some point, Bruce left the cult behind and swore Clara to secrecy about his involvement.

That isn’t surprising considering how much Clara is vilified by others in town because of her attachment to the cult. The cult itself remains a mystery, with the only bit of information revealing most of its members died in a mass suicide 25 years before I Know What You Did Last Summer began. Clara lives in the abandoned buildings on the cult’s land, killing animals and covering them up in honey. The events leading up to Bruce’s exit and the mass suicide remain a mystery the show will hopefully unearth soon enough.

For the majority of I Know What You Did Last Summer season 1, Lennon shouldered the blame for sleeping with Dylan, as though he didn’t really have a say in the matter. While Lennon was trying to lead her sister’s attention away from Dylan by hooking up with him, Dylan admits to Alison (still masquerading as Lennon) that he did like Lennon even while simultaneously loving her twin. Drugs were involved the night they had sex, sure, but Dylan also reveals that he wanted to sleep with Lennon and that perhaps that makes him a messed up guy. Either way, it certainly shifts the one-sided blame of that night from Lennon and gives Dylan responsibility and agency over his own actions.

Following Johnny’s death, the killer placed spiders inside his severed head. In I Know What You Did Last Summer episode 6, Lyla learns that the spiders were actually shipped all the way from the Arctic and kept them stored in a cold place so as to insert them in Johnny’s head later. Shortly after, Clara is revealed to have a freezing spider cage, which suggests she might indeed be the killer at large. Why Clara has an icy spider cage is unclear, but she sure does have some explaining to do.

Everyone seems to be smitten with Dylan in I Know What You Did Last Summer, including his best friend Riley. It’s clear that, even though nothing’s happened between them romantically, Riley still has complicated feelings for him In season 1, episode 6, it’s revealed that Riley did try to hook up with Dylan, but that he turned her down. Dylan didn’t want to cross the boundary of friendship into something more with Riley, and it seems like a sticking point for her because she still harbored those same romantic feelings in the present day. It’s something made all the worse because she and Dylan were no longer close, their friendship devastated by the accident.

When Lennon’s body is found, Bruce goes to see Clara knowing full well that she had something to do with his daughter’s sudden appearance. In I Know What You Did Last Summer’s episode 6, Dylan walks to the back of the cave where Clara is so often seen exiting, and sees the dead animals being preserved in what looks to be honey. It’s dripping down the animal bones and faces, and it’s possible this is exactly what Clara did to keep Lennon’s body intact. What’s most interesting about Clara preserving bodies in the cave is that she seems to be waiting for something. In an earlier episode, she tells Bruce that Lennon isn’t “the one.” To that end, it could be that Clara held onto Lennon’s body for so long because she was trying to use her in a cult sacrifice of some sort. Whatever the case, the honey (and likely other products) kept Lennon’s body preserved until Clara didn’t need it anymore.

I Know What You Did Last Summer’s season 1 premiere established that Alison and Lennon’s mother died by suicide several years before the start of the show. In fact, they spend most of their graduation night arguing about it, with Lennon pointing out that their mother didn’t actually love Alison as much as she believed. By the time of I Know What You Did Last Summer season 1’s episode 6, Bruce has begrudgingly admitted that their mother — who is not Clara, though it was teased as such — left her family behind when the twins were but eight years old.

She told Bruce to fabricate the story of her suicide and he agreed knowing that Alison and Lennon would be devastated if he told them the truth, too young to understand exactly why their mother didn’t want to be around them anymore. The fact that Alison and Lennon’s mother is still alive in I Know What You Did Last Summer also explains why Lennon was telling her twin sister that their mom didn’t really love her, making their argument clearer than ever before. There are still details surrounding the twins’ mother (including her identity) that have yet to come to light, but I Know What You Did Last Summer is certainly ramping up for a killer, and perhaps devastating, reveal.
