Marvel Teases The Surprise Return of Iron Fist | Screen Rant

Warning! Potential spoilers for Marvel's new Iron Fist series.

Danny Rand is making a return to Marvel Comics, as the hero will star in a brand new series where he will seemingly walk away from the role of Iron Fist. On Thursday, Marvel revealed that a new series would be coming in February 2022. While the information about the series was scarce, Marvel Comics did show off an image from Gunji homaging John Romita's iconic Spider-Man where the hero abandons his costume.

Iron Fist originally debuted in Marvel Premiere #15 and was created by Gil Kane and Roy Thomas. The hero has the powers of the Iron Fist, which he earned after defeating Shou-Lao The Undying and putting his fist deep inside the dragon's heart. The martial arts expert focuses his chi to gain several superpowers, making him one of Marvel's most dangerous fighters. Most famously, he can focus that chi to make his hand glow and strike mammoth blows with his Iron Fist. In the comics, he's often paired alongside Luke Cage and the Heroes For Hire. Iron Fist hasn't starred in his own ongoing series for some time but recently appeared in the Iron Fist: Heart of the Dragon miniseries from Larry Hama and Dave Watcher. The character also appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in his own self-titled series starring Finn Jones, which was critically panned.

On Thursday, Marvel Comics dropped a mysterious teaser for a new Iron Fist series coming to the publisher in 2022. The image homages John Romita's Amazing Spider-Man #50, where Peter Parker trashes his Spider-Man suit and walks away in the rain. The new Iron Fist teaser copies the "No More" tagline from the issue's cover, as Danny Rand leaves his entire suit in the trash. However, the image also shows someone's (or something's) hand reaching into the garbage to take it.

If the tease proves anything, it's that superheroes need to dispose of their costumes more effectively as who knows what villain will snatch it up and pretend to be Iron Fist. But, joking aside, it's great to see Danny Rand back in the Marvel Universe. It will be fascinating to see if he continues as the main Iron Fist in the series or if someone new takes the mantle. Regardless, having a fresh take on the character is welcome, whether it's Danny or someone else as Iron Fist.

Iron Fist returns (and will be the hero 'No More') when the series comes to comic book stores in February 2022. We'll have more information on the series when it becomes available from Marvel Comics.
