5 Reasons Why We Need Frozen 3 (& 5 Why We Don't) | ScreenRant

It's fair to say that many people feel like they really need another installment to the hit Disney animated franchise, FrozenAlthough the last film seemed to have quite a definitive ending, there are many ways that a third film could still happen.

While some may be happier with a continuation of this franchise through a TV show, video game or perhaps even a comic series, others feel like this series really needs a third film. Here's 5 reasons why that may be the case and 5 reasons it definitely doesn't need one.

10 DON'T: STORY COMPLETE

Although there may be a few unresolved plot points, including the disappearance of Elsa and Anna's mother, it seems that all in all this series has been effectively completed. There's not a major cliff hanger or any huge questions that need to be answered desperately.

The second film felt like a definitive end and there wouldn't be many more directions to go from there. While we're sure the creative writers at Disney could come up with a fantastic new idea, perhaps this perfect ending should be left untouched.

9 DO: ELSA'S NEW HOME

The end of the last film had Elsa find a brand new home, far from Arendelle. This meant that Anna was the new Queen and Elsa would live, off with the people of the magical woods. We kind of want to know what happened next.

This new group of people hasn't been explored too much and it would be interesting to see more of them. We also want to know how Elsa is adapting to her new home; there's definitely spin-off potential here that the film could have been setting up.

8 DON'T: NO NEW THREATS

Villains have never been a major part of the Frozen franchise. Sure there was a less-than-heroic prince in the first film and an evil king from times gone past in the second, but neither of them are exactly memorable compared to the Evil Queen or Scar.

There's also not a lot of room for new threats. Perhaps it would feel inorganic if a new villain suddenly entered the picture when very few had been an issue in the past. It's probably best to leave this family in a time of peace now.

7 DO: FAR FUTURE

We are intrigued to know what Anna and Elsa are up to in 15 to 20 years' time. A major time jump like this would be completely unique for a Disney film, but we feel like Frozen is the franchise to do it with, because there's a real purpose to it.

Unlike other happily ever after stories, the ending is pretty predictable. With Elsa and Anna anything can happen in a world of magic, especially if either of them have kids. We'd love to see what could happen years down the line, which could be explored in a third film.

6 DON'T: DIP IN QUALITY

Every time a film franchise pushes beyond its capacity, the quality dips significantly. Sadly, that could be the case for the Frozen franchise as well. If the team behind it keeps trying to push through more films, they may not recapture that same magic.

Of course, the production crew are incredibly talented and we don't doubt their capabilities. But there's no point pushing through a third film if there's nowhere to go, creatively with the characters. The movie could end up being an absolute mess.

5 DO: POPULARITY

The popularity of the franchise is undeniable. There's just too many fans both young and old, to deny them another film in this series. Other huge franchises manage to create multiple films across a number of years.

Since this series is so popular it seems sensible to create one final one to complete the trilogy and really send fans home happy. There's an audience there for it and perhaps the audience itself can guide where the project would move to next.

4 DON'T: NEW ORIGINAL FILMS

Disney is great are creating original scripts. In fact, their animation studio, along with PIXAR, is perhaps the biggest studio in the world for creating unique ideas. In fact, even their upcoming projects are clearly taking the company in a completely different direction.

If the creative teams just keep on working on sequels to films, we'll never get these new concepts and ideas. It would have been a shame if we never saw a princess that could control water, or a video game character come to life. If we want more Zoo based worlds we need to avoid these sequels.

3 DO: MORE OLAF

There's one character amongst the rest that has the room to be given a spin-off which would probably perform equally as well as the main films. That is, of course, the ever loveable and huggable snowman, Olaf.

The charm and wit that Josh Gad has brought to the character have allowed Disney to really run with the idea and push the boundaries of what they can do with a snowman that has been gifted life. A third film could allow us to learn even more about Olaf.

2 DON'T: OVERPLAYED

This franchise is in danger of being overplayed if a third film is created. There's nothing worse than a series of films outstaying their welcome with diminishing box office returns and fans that start to reject the idea of seeing any more of them.

The magic is currently alive and well; we really don't want that ruined. Yet another film could drive parents to avoid taking their children, since they are already sick of playing the songs over and over again. It might even get too much for the little ones.

1 DO: NEW SONGS

Having said all of that, the songs from this series are ridiculously good and actually Oscar-worthy. The team behind these songs is absolutely amazing at producing emotional lyrics and foot-tapping music.

Every song has a purposeful meaning in the films, but can also be played on repeat in the car. They have an infectious energy and we believe that the second film might even have better songs than the first. It's only natural that the third may be better again.
