The Mandalorian season 2 release schedule is similar to season 1, but with a notable difference towards the end of the season. One year after The Mandalorian season 1 debuted with the launch of Disney+, the hit Star Wars TV series is back for another adventure with Din Djarin and the Child (who's still and always will be colloquially known as Baby Yoda). Considering the success of The Mandalorian season 1, Disney and Lucasfilm have seen no reason not to keep season 2 on the same plan.
Instead of coming out in early November (which was done to coincide with Disney+'s launch), The Mandalorian season 2 release date had been set for October 30. That way, the entirety of The Mandalorian season 2 can release before Christmas and the holidays get underway in December. Lucasfilm ran into a predicament with The Mandalorian season 1 because of its schedule and had to accommodate the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. This time, they don't have that problem and can, therefore, release episodes every week without worry.
The Mandalorian season 2 episodes release every Friday at 12:01 am PST, 3:01 am EST, and 8:01 am GMT. It will follow this plan for the entirety of season 2, which will include an episode on Friday, November 27, 2020 (Thanksgiving weekend in the United States). The Mandalorian season 2 finale will then air on Friday, December 18, which is 9 days earlier than when season 1 ended in 2019. Interestingly enough, that's the same date that The Mandalorian season 1's penultimate episode aired on.
- The Mandalorian season 2, episode 1, "Chapter 9" - October 30, 2020
- The Mandalorian season 2, episode 2, "Chapter 10" - November 6, 2020
- The Mandalorian season 2, episode 3, "Chapter 11" - November 13, 2020
- The Mandalorian season 2, episode 4, "Chapter 12" - November 20, 2020
- The Mandalorian season 2, episode 5, "Chapter 13" - November 27, 2020
- The Mandalorian season 2, episode 6, "Chapter 14" - December 4, 2020
- The Mandalorian season 2, episode 7, "Chapter 15" - December 11, 2020
- The Mandalorian season 2, episode 8, "Chapter 16" - December 18, 2020
Compared to The Mandalorian season 1's schedule (in which two episodes released in the first week and then there was a 9-day gap between the final two episodes of the season to account for Christmas), The Mandalorian season 2 release schedule will maintain consistency throughout its run - one episode every Friday from October 30 to December 18. In total, The Mandalorian season 2 has 8 episodes, just like season 1. However, the length of each episode may vary, with some expected to be longer than the episodes were last year.
Despite being a weekly release, The Mandalorian season 2 wrapped filming several months ago, so there shouldn't be any COVID-related delays to the schedule since post-production should've already completed a while ago too. Keeping that in mind, The Mandalorian season 2 release schedule will remain untouched, unless Disney and Lucasfilm decide, for some reason, to push the latter half of the season back a week to skip Thanksgiving weekend, though that itself seems unlikely. In fact, a streaming release may draw in more viewers.
