Falcon & Winter Soldier Merch Shows Sam Wilson's New Costume With Wings

New merch for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier reveals Sam Wilson's updated suit, this time with wings. Once planned to be the first Marvel show on Disney+, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has since been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. As a result, fans are still waiting to see Sam (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) team up for the first time without Steve Rogers (Chris Evans). The series has yet to receive another release date, but it seems likely it could premiere in the early part of 2021 once WandaVision wraps up.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will see Sam and Bucky unite in the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame, which brought both of them back from the dead. While plot specifics are still being kept under wraps, it's clear the series will put special focus on Sam's new role as Captain America. Steve passed the shield over in the final moments of Endgame, and though Sam was happy to take it on, he'll get some trouble from the United States government. The powers that be wish to put their own man in the position, but Sam likely won't go down without a fight.

There's been a great deal of interest surrounding Sam's new costume, which has mainly been revealed through merchandise and photos from Mackie himself. This latest look comes courtesy of a Falcon and the Winter Soldier poster on Zazzle and shows Sam in the same red and white suit fans have seen in recent images. What's notable about this one, though, is that Sam's Falcon wings are on full display. Check it out below.

Despite taking on the mantle of Captain America, it's clear Sam isn't going to let go of his Falcon roots just yet. A quick Disney+ promo from earlier this year saw Sam flying through the air once more, and this image supports that. There's a chance that, while the government puts their support behind John Walker (Wyatt Russell), Sam will channel his superhero efforts through the Falcon. It'll be quite interesting to see how Sam reconciles his two hero personas once he fully lays claim to the shield.

Much of Sam's time in the MCU up until now has revolved around Steve and his grand adventures, making The Falcon and the Winter Soldier the first time he'll get a story of his own. Fans are excited to learn more about Sam on a deeper level than before. With six episodes, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will have plenty of time to dig into Sam's characterization and his other relationships outside of Steve, particularly his contentious one with Bucky. There's a lot to look forward to in this show, so hopefully Marvel will set a new release date soon.
